Trump Turnberry- an overview

Welcome to the first entry for this new blog, focussing on different food and drink locations all within about an hour of Glasgow. In this first post we will be looking at the prestigious... Trump Turnberry hotel.

Location:

The recently rennovated resort is situated on the South-west coast of Scotland, about an hour's drive from Glasgow. From any of the restaurants, you will experience breathtaking views of the Ailsa Craig, the Isle of Arran and the award winning golf courses: an unforgettable spot.

Interior:

The resort prides itself on luxury and if you eat in the 1906 restaurant you will experience a very sophisticated meal, if you prefer a more relaxed setting, The dual in the Sun located in the clubhouse would be the best option. The large windows let in a lot of natural lightening, the elegant furniture and surroundings add to the luxurious feel and it sets the tone for the meal ahead.

The main event:

Il tramonto at 1906 is the resort's signature restaurant and is named after the hotel's opening date: opening it's doors at 19:06pm every night. This restaurant is seen as the most formal of the available choices, the menu is inspired by Italian and Scottish dishes, making use of local ingredients where possible. The food can be seen as on the pricy side, with main courses ranging from £28 to £58 and the Chateaubriand costing a substantial £95. With this being said, this is not an everyday restaurant and would be more suited to occasions. The menu offers a wide range with a focus on  meat and fish, the fillet of beef a personal favourite of mine.

The Dual in the Sun restaurant offers a more relaxed dining experience will still remaining luxurious, with the menu being focused around golf.  Again, all food is locally sourced, with Lobster being sourced from Girvan, 5 minutes away from Turnberry! The menu is also more relaxed and offers meal options such as sandwiches with soup for starter.

If you just fancied a drink then the Grand tea lounge & bar is the place to be, offering light snacks and sandwiches. The bar offers a range of cocktails and over 250 whiskies as well as a range of other drinks, there truly is something for everyone!

Cheers for reading and the next post will be focused around the Anchorline restaurant in Glasgow👍
