Oro

When it comes to eating in Glasgow many people tend to stay within the city centre but if you venture out there are some gems to be found: with Oro being my new found favourite.

The casual Italian restaurant is located in Shawlands, Glasgow’s southside. The interior is cosy and offers a traditional Italian feel. Many of the staff are also Italian and it has the impression of a real family orientated business.

The restaurant, of course, focuses on Italian cuisine: with a range of starters including bruschetta, focaccia, pollo fritto, meatballs and prawns. For mains a range of different pastas are offered and for pizza you have the chance to fully create your own, with a vast list of ingredients you have the opportunity to craft your ideal pizza, with Oro winning Uk gold award for pizza for a number of years.

There is also a range of meat and fish dishes on offer too: being a steak lover I just had to try the fillet steak. Steak is served with tomato and grilled mushroom, peppercorn sauce on the side and your choice of side. The steak was one of the best, if not the best, I’ve ever had anywhere. It was cooked to perfection.

When it comes to desserts, there is again something for everyone with traditional Italian tiramisu, gelato, Sicilian cannoli but the stand out for myself was the Neapolitan doughnuts: served with vanilla, caramel and chocolate sauce. These are ideal for sharing too and guarantee to be a favourite if you have a sweet tooth.

To sum up, you need to try ORO. The service, the food, the atmosphere all make for a fantastic meal, evening offering desserts etc for take out. Get yourself to Oro.

This will be the final blog so really appreciate the views guys, cheers!
